Although I do small cleaning every day throughout the week, sometimes I just need to do a quick little refresh to feel cleaner in my home.
I made you a little list of everything I will do to just give the house a little boost, and tend to the areas that we can sometimes forget about!
- Open Windows
Winter, Summer, Spring, or Fall. Even if it’s just a crack open, something about letting the fresh air into the home makes everything feel so much more refreshing and cozier!
- Light a candle (or wax melt)
Preferably while your windows are open so the good scents can circulate through the house. Having a nice seasonal scent going really elevates how the home feels!
- Put everything out of place in a basket and put away room by room
This is a quick and easy way to remove any clutter that can bog down a room and make it feel messy. Taking everything to its correct home all at once is the best way to deal with clutter in one fell swoop!
- Vinegar and baking soda
Do not underestimate the power of these two cheap household essentials! I like to keep vinegar in a little spray bottle and the week or so in between washing the couch cushions being washed, I will spritz everything down. This kills any odors that could be hiding in the fabric and once everything is dried the vinegar smell disappears leaving nothing but freshness! Sprinkle baking soda on your rugs and bare mattresses to freshen them up as well. I usually will let it sit for 30-45 minutes to allow it to soak up odors and then will vacuum it away.
- Vacuum
Just a quick little vacuum under the couches and on the rugs, it doesn’t have to be a deep clean by any means.
- Sweep
Same concept as above. Nothing crazy, just sweep up high traffic areas in the home to get a quick and simple refresh!
- Wipe surfaces
To get a good refreshed feeling in the home I will always head to the kitchen and wipe down the countertops and inside of the sink! Having freshly washed surfaces make the home look and feel so much better. For an extra boost I will throw a garbage disposal pod in the sink to get rid of any funky smells that could be lurking.
- Baseboards with dryer sheet
Dryer sheets attract dust so much better than other traditional dusting methods and it is a bonus if you get a nice naturally scented one! Mine are currently lavender.
- Fluff pillows & tumble blankets
Strip off all of the pillow cases and blankets and toss them in the dryer with some dryer balls! You can add essential oils to the dryer balls if you’d like a nice light scent on your linens when they come out. Before putting your pillow cases back on, give your pillows a good fluff for maximum comfort later.
- Spritz curtains
Use your vinegar spray to remove any odors from your window and shower curtains! Once dry you can spray it with your favorite room spray or make an essential oil spray with witch hazel and essential oils.
- Dust light fixtures
I usually don’t use dryer sheets for this, but it is always nice to get rid of any dust or cobwebs that could have accumulated.
- Take a shower
Maybe it’s not exactly for your home refresh, but it always feels so nice to step out of the shower into a clean and fresh home.
- Relax!
This one explains itself. Reap the rewards of your hard work!
